Sources

GovAwardData.com republishes and summarizes public U.S. federal contract award data. Our intended primary sources are official public systems including USAspending.gov and SAM.gov. The current MVP dataset is a small illustrative seed (clearly labeled as sample data) used to prove the architecture before official ingestion is enabled.

Data freshness

Each profile shows a “last synced” date. Award data may lag the official source, and the most recent contract modifications may not be reflected. We never imply our figures are real-time or authoritative.

Transformation logic

• We retain only a defined subset of fields needed for lookup and summarization.
• Identifiers (CAGE, UEI, NAICS, PSC, PIID) are validated against documented formats.
• Records failing validation are rejected and logged, never silently altered.
• Monetary and date fields are normalized to consistent formats for display.
• We compute summary aggregates (award counts, totals) from the retained records only.

Limitations

• Figures are summaries of public records and may contain transformation errors.
• The dataset is not exhaustive and does not represent all federal awards.
• Entity matching across systems is imperfect; verify identity with official sources.

Verification

For any decision that matters, verify the underlying figures using the official source record linked on each award page, or by searching the official systems directly. GovAwardData.com is an independent directory and is not the system of record.
